Julie-Anne Schafer

Ms Schafer was appointed to the ActewAGL Joint Venture Partnerships Board by Icon Water on 1 July 2022 and is also Chair of the ActewAGL Safety, Audit and Risk Committee.

Ms Schafer has directorship experience in diverse and highly regulated sectors, including energy, financial services, utilities, transport, member services and health.

She is currently a non-executive director of Icon Water, Icon Retail Investments Limited and Icon Distribution Investments Limited, Urban Utilities and Chair of the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee and member of the Experience and Safety Committee for Urban Utilities.

Ms Schafer is a non executive member of the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator and is a member of the board of the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation. She is President of the National Competition Council.

Ms Schafer was previously a partner in professional legal service firms. She is a former Deputy Chancellor of QUT, President of the Queensland Law Society, and Chair of Queensland’s largest mutual.

She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has a Bachelor of Laws degree with Honours. She facilitates in Governance and the Practice of Directorship, Risk and Strategy in the Company Director Course, for the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
